If there is a large open area on the imprint where the arch of your foot didn't touch the ground, you have a high arch and should look for a shoe that provides features like a medial post (a stiff material on the inner side of the shoe) to help reduce over-pronation or rolling in, a dense, durable polyurethane midsole for moderate cushioning and greater stability and a carbon rubber outsole for greater durability.
If the imprint reveals a silhouette of your foot that lies somewhere between these two, you have a neutral or ideal foot. You can buy a shoe with moderate cushioning. Medial support is a matter of personal preference for your foot type.

It's official. In a news blast, L' Oreal Paris has confirmed that this year it won't just be Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who will walk the Red Carpet at the Cannes film festival to be held from May 11-22. The cosmetic giant has also roped in budding fashionista Sonam Kapoor and Slumdog Millionaire's Freida Pinto to represent India. Hence we can cover it in latest entertainment news.

To make sure that there is no red carpet face off, L'Oreal has micro managed the appearances of the three Divas. Here's the drift: Ash will walk down the Croisette for the opening gala cocktail and dinner while attending various events at Cannes on May 12. Sonam will make her Cannes red carpet debut on May 15 while Freida will be present at the amFar (The American Foundation for AIDS Research) dinner and after-party on May 19. The amFAR event co-sponsored by LOreal Paris aims at raising money against AIDS.

By spelling the itinerary to the media so well in advance, the cosmetic giant clearly does not want a repeat of 2009's carpet blunder. Remember the high voltage Ash vs Sonam drama? To recap, Sonam had happily declared that she would be walking the Cannes red carpet and that since Ash and she were from different generations so itll be a nice balance. The interview apparently caused a big flutter with Ash. Soon, it escalated into a turf war with Ashs side declaring that Sonam was the local Indian representative while Ash was part of the more prestigious International Dream Team of the brand. Ultimately, L' Oreal had to step in. They nixed Sonam from the Cannes team while Ash went on to pose with Elizabeth Banks. Somewhere in the mix, a Facebook page also came up demanding to know why Sonam was dropped at the last minute.

Phew.

While the off carpet drama made for amusing off takes, this year the focus will be on the job at hand. Come Cannes and every fashion expert from Colaba to Cannaught Place will be ready with their expert opinions (daggers et al) and entertainment news as to who wore it better, who scored over whom. The actresses and their army of stylists will already be in fashion boot camp to kill the competition, quite fashionably of course.

For those keeping a record, this will be Ash's 10 th appearance at Cannes. For L'Oreal, she's totally been worth it.

While on Ash, her better half, Abhishek won't be accompanying the wife at Cannes this year as he's already in Russia for an extended schedule for Abbas Mustan's Players . Bachchan Jr's latest release, Dum Maaro Dum , which released this Friday has got a mixed response at the box office. Director Rohan Sippy has presented a stylized chor-police story where the chor in the equation is a drug lord (Lorsa Biscuit, played by Aditya Panscholi). Abhishek plays ACP Kamath who is given the job to clean out the drug scene in Goa. ASH Pumps Shoes does an Innaritu as he sets up multiple stories out of one event. Prateik plays young boy (Lorry) who becomes a drug carrier to further his career, Bipasha Basu (Zoe) is an air hostess who becomes the drug lord's moll while Rana Daggubatti is the musician (Joki) who could not save his girlfriend Zoe from her downward spiral but does it all to save Lorry from having the same fate as Zoe. Like his last release Bluffmaster, Sippy serves up a stylish concoction of breathtaking shots, furious edit patters and edgy cutting. The lines by Sridhar Raghavan are super cool especially the one where the iconic Deewar dialogue is turned on the head ( Mere Paas Maal Hai ). The film starts out well but in the second half it falters, the pacing goes awry and too many happy coincidences restrict the film from becoming a trippy ride as the title suggests. As for Deepika Padukone's item song, well, the skirt is very short, she looks hot but that's all. I can't see myself crooning the potty lyrics so if you are the kind who watches a song rather than sings it then well, this might just be for you.
