Previously going by the less catchy name of “Untitled Sebastian Silva Thriller”, Magic Magic stars three of Hollywood’s new young talents
For Michael Cera, Magic Magic looks like something of a departure. Known for comedy, often of the romantic and indie varieties, and mostly for playing gangly, awkward teen head over heels in love with a girl who bosses him around, Cera has stepped into the world of the thriller for The Maid director Sebastian Silva. The actor is set to play an American ex-pat living in Chile in Magic Magic, which Sony has just picked up and planned for a spring shoot, alongside Juno Temple and Emily Browning.
The story is one of an American girl (Temple) who psychologically unravels whilst holidaying with two friends in remote Chile. Juno Temple told The Playlist “My character loses her mind in a scary way. It’s an extraordinary script. Again, quite dark, but it has humour in it too.”
